Nanocatalysts for the Photodegradation of Organic Pollutants
نویسندگان
چکیده
Industrial and other anthropogenic activities lead to increase in persistent organic pollutants (POPs) natural water bodies. POPs are harmful not only the aquatic ecosystem but also human health. Researchers around globe have been working develop efficient, cost-effective, environmentally-friendly methods for treatment of contaminated waters. The chapter basically focuses on removal by catalytic advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) using nontoxic metal oxides d-block elements such as TiO2, ZnO, MnO2 iron nanomaterials composites with different counterparts. An insight into fundamentals photocatalysis is highlighted. This would bestow an opportunity evaluate underlying prospects involving AOPs used degradation dissolved water.

Application of TiO2–zeolite as photocatalyst for photodegradation of some organic pollutants
Immobilization of catalysts on the surface of some inert supports makes therecovering step easier. Because of the specific physicochemical properties, zeolites are good candidate as catalyst supports. In this study, zeolite X was synthesized by natural kaolin and TiO2 was incorporated into zeolite phase by impregnation method. Degradation of Safranin Orange, methylene blue and 2,4–di...

Study nanostructures of semiconductor zinc oxide (ZnO) as a photocatalyst for the degradation of organic pollutants
In the present study, comparison of photocatalytic activity of nanostructures semiconductor zinc oxide (ZnO) was prepared using the different methods on the degradation of organic dye such as methylene blue that was investigated. Previous studies have proved that such semiconductors can degrade most kinds of persistent organic pollutants, such as detergents, dyes, pesticides and volatile organ...
